Beauty of winter

Winter view outside my dad's back window!

Donn & Di

Winter greetings from the far north country! We spent Christmas eve at my dad's home, it was a gorgeous snowy day!

Crazy Winter Weather!

Scraping snow off walks, cleaning off piles of snow from our house-long deck has been our routine now since the snow began falling early November. One of the problems we have up here is snow accumulation on the roof. Our roof is very steep with several slopes, but it still managed to have at least 2 feet of snow clinging to it. Gaylord area has had 99.4 inches of snow so far this year, twice as much as last years 49 inches at this time. The snow that mounded on our garage roof really bothered me this morning and after yesterday search in vain for a snow rake to pull it down I came up with a brilliant idea! I scrounged around in the garage and found one of our long kayak paddles. Standing below the overhang I jabbed at the snow....too bad I don't have a picture of what happened. First of all let me tell you, it worked! Forget the $34 dollar roof rake! Kayak paddles rule. I wasn't quite ready for the huge blob of snow that quickly fell and covered me from head to toe! Did that cause me to run for cover? No Way! I just learned to jab from the side and move! Rain then began to fall and our temps soared to 50 degrees F! Donn and I both donned our coats and cleared the deck of 2 feet of snow! We are both exhausted but feel a real sense of accomplishment! More snow is predicted starting tomorrow, but we are glad for this day of cleaning stuff off before beginning again! Have a wonderful evening!

Home Again

Traveling, retreating, meetings, shopping, driving, eating too much, visiting friends and family....all fun things but it is sooooo good to be home! Of course we returned to many additional inches of snow. 67 inches of beautiful snow has fallen so far this year in our area. Love it. I quickly unpacked our bags and shoved the suitcases as far back on the top shelf as possible with leaving home again any time soon the farthest thing from my mind. Time to totally enjoy this blessed time of year! We wish you a joyous Christmas season right where you are!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Snow continues to fall in big, fluffy flakes coating our world with a frosting of white. Our home looks like a big gingerbread house. Inside the fire is crackling and the air is filled with the scent of baking cakes and treats in preparation of our party for our pastors and their wife tomorrow evening. This is my joy to be here, back home...in the North snow, snug and warm and getting ready for the celebration of Jesus birthday, sharing our home with friends and family! Let us each one count our blessings every moment. Have an awesome day from me to you.

Sweet Baby Days

The last four days have been filled to the brim with diapers, bottles, holding, rocking and loving Megan and Mason. What a tough assignment, huh? Our hearts have already fallen in love with them and it will be hard to say goodbye to them tomorrow. Only Father knows the exact day and time we will see them again. We will place them in His hands as we do all our children and grands when the time comes for departing, knowing He loves them more than we can ever comprehend and trusting Him totally. We are blessed, we are blessed, we are blessed! Life is good!
